D and L forms of phenylalinine in a 50/50 mix. L-phenylalinine is frequently supplemented by orthomolecular medical doctors and psychiatrists because it is reported to be beneficial against mood instabilities. Patients currently taking MAO inhibitors should not be on DLPA. D-phenylalinine is a synthetic mirror image of the L form, but is known to be far more effective against pain.
