The essential amino acid l-tryptophan is a serotonin precursor. Research indicates that l- tryptophan supplementation may support emotional well-being and restful sleep. In a double blind placebo-controlled study, l-tryptophan supported healthy emotional processing and promoted positive outlook in women.
