PRODUCT DISCUSSION
Milk Thistle Extract contains a group of beneficial flavonoids collectively
called Silymarin. PhysioLogics Milk Thistle Extract 250 mg has been standardized
to contain 80% Silymarin, to help support liver health.*
STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION
Free radicals can contribute to oxidative stress, which in turn may contribute
to the premature aging of cells. The flavonoids and antioxidants in Milk Thistle
Extract promote the action of nucleolar polymerase A, for increased ribosomal
protein synthesis.* This promotes healthy liver function and helps support the
outer cell membrane structure of hepatocytes.*
CLINICAL EVIDENCE
- Seventeen subjects who received 160 mg of silymarin three times per week were compared to a control group who received no treatment for four weeks. The subjects who received silymarin experienced a significant improvement in liver function compared with the control group. (Torres et al, 2004)
- Forty nine subjects received either 150 mg of silymarin three times per day, or placebo, for six months. Those receiving silymarin experienced a significant increase in plasma glutathione and antioxidant activity compared with placebo. (Lucena et al, 2002)

SUGGESTED DOSAGE
For adults, take one (1) capsule three times daily, preferably with meals or
