Traditional-Based Formula
HOW PATIENTS MAY BENEFIT
- Used in traditional Chinese health practices
- Helps support a healthy immune system*
PRODUCT DISCUSSION
PhysioLogics Mushroom Immunity Formula is a blend of carefully selected
strains of organic reishi and shiitake mushroom mycelia with extracts of
maitake, shiitake and reishi mushrooms. The product is enhanced by the
addition of Vitamin C to help support your immune system.*
STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION
Mushrooms are used in traditional Chinese and other health systems. Reishi
mushrooms have a 2,000-year history of use in China for their health
properties. Vitamin C supports the phagocytic functions of polymorphonuclear
neutrophils and helps stimulate neutrophil motility and lymphocyte activity
for immune support.* It offers antioxidant support to help neutralize free
radicals.*
CLINICAL EVIDENCE
24 subjects received either 10 mg two times per day of beta glucan
(beta-1,3-1,6-glucan) or placebo for 12 weeks. The subjects receiving active
treatment experienced significantly improved indications of overall health
than the controls. Beta glucan is a natural component of Shiitake mushroom, an
ingredient in our product. (Kirmaz et al. 2005.)
A cross sectional study compared subjects with reduced immune function to control subjects in regard to their antioxidant status. The subjects with reduced immune function were found to have reduced levels of plasma ascorbate (vitamin C) than the controls. Physiologics Mushroom Immunity Formula contains vitamin C to help support immune function. (Stephensen et al. 2006)
