
In part, the mechanism for this action may involve a supportive spasmolytic effect on smooth muscle in cranial blood vessels.  A second study with 229 individuals indicated similar positive results.  In this trial, optimal dosing of Petadolex provided significant support compared to placebo within one month.  After three months, over seventy percent of individuals experienced a positive outcome.  A petasin-containing butterbur leaf extract has been shown to maintain proper histamine and cytokine release.  In two clinical trials, butterbur maintained healthy nasal histamine release and leukotriene activity, supporting both subjective and objective parameters.  Petadolex is standardized to contain at least 7.5 mg petasins per 50 mg and is processed to remove pyrrolizidine alkaloids. ÂÂ

butterbur extract (28-44:1) (Petasites hybridus (root) 50 mg.
(standardized to contain 7.5 mg of petasin and isopetasin)
