The antioxidant activity of silymarin stabilizes the membranes of hepatocytes, neutralizes free radicals and maintains liver glutathione levels. Another potent antioxidant, curcumin's lipoxygenase inhibitory action reduces the production of pro-inflammatory leukotrienes. Cynara also has a long history of use in hepatic support.
