Selenium is an active component of the glutathione peroxidase enzyme, and as such works with vitamin E and other nutrients to promote and improve responses to oxidation at the cellular level. This trace mineral has also been shown to help men and women with challenging immune conditions. Selenium is naturally found in organ meats, seafood, grains and seeds, but the amount in food varies. Selenium is not readily found in refined foods. Selenium caps provide 100 mcg of selenium, with 50 percent from selenomethionine and 50 percent from selenium amino acid chelate.
